Y said, “In my house, I take decisions on bigger issues where as my life decides on smaller issues. We do not interfere in each other’s decisions.”

Still not convinced, X asked Y “Give me some examples”

Y said,” Smaller issues like which car we should buy, how much amount o save, when to visit home town, which Sofa, air conditioner, refrigerator to buy, monthly expenses, whether to keep a maid or not etc are decided by my wife. I just agree to it”

X asked, “Then what is your role?”

Y said,” My decisions are only for very big issues. Like whether America should attack Iran, whether Britain should lift sanction over Zimbabwe, whether to widen African economy, whether Sachin Tendulkar should retire etc etc. Do you know one thing, my wife NEVER objects to any of these!!!

The Harbhajan saga just doesn’t go out of the limelight. It seems that senior Australian players are upset with CA over how this issue has been handled. They can be upset with the way it was handled, but they can’t be upset that Harbhajan was let off as there was no evidence.

The thing that pisses us off is that it shows how much power India
has,” the anonymous contracted player told the paper. “The Aussie guys
aren’t going to make it [the accusation] up. The players are frustrated
because this shows how much influence India has, because of the wealth
they generate. Money talks.[Link]

Well, Money does talk. But, shouldn’t the Aussie players realize that the case was unwinnable. It is a case where there are 2 people from the same family accusing someone else of doing something wrong and appearing for the case as witness. Just doesn’t work in the court of law. Maybe the Aussies don’t understand this simple thing.

But, I still believe that the BCCI shouldn’t have postured the way it did. Given the fact that there was no evidence, they could have just let the ICC handle matters. This sort of posturing will only lead to loss of friends and lot of ill will.
Hopefully, cricket will go forward in the right direction from here. And I still want Mike Procter to explain his previous decision. Is the white man’s word still more truthful than a brown man’s word?

To an extent I agree with what is written in this article about the Harbhajan saga. I agree to the point that revenue considerations have taken centrestage over the issues and Cricket Australia and ICC caved into BCCI’s demands. If the Aussie players were really confident that Harbhajan had uttered the word they consider racial, then they shouldn’t have agreed to downgrade the charges. This doesn’t speak well about the integrity of the Aussie players.
I don’t agree to a couple of things in the article, when the author agrees to the Australian players feeling that Harbhajan should have been punished with at least a one match ban. This should have happened only if there was sufficient evidence to prove that Harbhajan uttered the word “Monkey”. I feel that the Australian players are crazy if they feel that they can get Harbhajan banned without sufficient evidence. If Mike Procter had used some other evidence than just going by the word of the Aussie players over the word of Sachin Tendulkar, then I am pretty sure that a lot of people in India itself would have stood by ICC’s decision and said that the rules should be followed. What irritated the people in India and the Board itself is the fact that there is no evidence other than what the Australian players are claiming. If Ricky “integrity” Ponting claims that his integrity shouldn’t have been questioned after the Sydney test, then he should have stood by what he told Mike Procter instead of backing down. Now, this brings me to the question of whether the Aussies should have been punished for lying?

Now, the best thing that the ICC can do is to tell the world, how two entirely different decisions were arrived at within a span of 20 odd days with the same evidence, which is still considered inconclusive. Read this piece at Guardian. It talks without any prejudice that the Australians would have regarding the judgement and throws out the persons involved and looks at the process.

If I had to guess then it would have mostly been on the lines of Nirma or some product of HUL like Lux or Lifebuoy etc. But, according to the BrandAsset Valuator Survey by Young & Rubicam for Forbes.com, the most trusted local brand in India is Good Knight.
Yes, I have typed it correctly. It is the mosquito repellant which is a joint venture between Godrej and Sara Lee. Maybe people are using Good Knight or at least hearing about it a lot more due to the mosquito menace which exists in most parts of India.

Here is the article and the presentation. Check out the trusted brands in other countries.
P.S: It isn’t very clear if the survey was directed at local brands only. The usual suspects like Coca Cola, Gillette, Toyota etc are missing.

If entertainment is the only criteria for judging movies, then this one would score 9/10. It is truly entertaining in the first half and for most of the second half. If we have to take a critic’s view then I would give it something like 5/10 as lot of things that happen in this movie, only happens in movies.

I have never liked Kareena Kapoor, but was quite impressed by her acting in this movie. Yeah, if the umpteen layers of make-up were removed from her face, she still looks nice and can actually show some expressions and act in between her blabbering. Even Shahid Kapur looked pretty good in his role. His character had to show restrained emotion and he was quite good at doing that. The movie has the predictable storyline of Boy meets Girl and in the end after the marriage everyone is happy. But, what is different here is the treatment and it is indeed a worthwhile fare. Some things wouldn’t add up in the movie, if someone wanted to just find faults, but if the intention is just to entertain people then the director has succeeded.

The dialogues are really good and especially the ones which are muttered before Kareena and Shahid reach Bhatinda are fantastic. One thing that I am unable to understand is, why do directors force-fit songs in movies? At least 3 of the songs weren’t needed.

Unfortunately, after “Jab We Met” it has been “Jab we Split” for Kareena and Shahid. Hopefully, this won’t be their last time on screen together. But, I can’t just help thinking at the idea of placing Saif as Anshuman in the movie. It would have suited the movie perfectly.

Well, Symonds has had a great series with the bat in his hand so far in India. But, he hardly seems articulate with the microphone in his hand. Maybe he should just let some of his other teammates do the talking while he can continue with his batting. Maybe it is just because he hasn’t had the chance to go to school as he was born after 1999.

Symonds feels that the Indian team went over the top with their celebrations after the T20 win.

The feeling has come from the carry-on that surrounded India’s Twenty20 world Cup win. When we got here, it was just everywhere. Our blokes thought it was over the top. Some of the things their players have been given and the way they are treated, it’s like they are rock stars and princes. The Indian government gave them a heap of money. Yuvraj Singh got a Porsche. Blokes are getting houses and blocks of land. [Link]

“Something has been sparked inside of me, watching them carry on over the last few days,” Symonds told AAP. “We have had a very successful side and I think watching how we celebrate and how they celebrate, I think we have been pretty humble in the way we have gone about it. [Link]

If you are expected to win every tournament you play then you won’t enjoy too much if you win the tournament. The loss hurts you most and this is exactly what happened to Australia after their semi-final loss in the T20 world cup. Australia were the favourites to win the 2003 and 2007 world cups and nearly every tournament they played in after the year 1999. And they have been successful nearly 80% of the time, which speaks for the abilities of the Aussies as a team. But, to think that they have been humble with their celebrations when they have won at a time when they weren’t exactly the favourites speaks volumes about the knowledge of the person speaking. This is what happened after the 1999 world cup triumph.

After being congratulated by more than 100,000 fans at a Melbourne ticker-tape parade yesterday, the Emirates Australian World Cup Champions are taking their coveted trophy on the road.

Melbourne – Saturday 26 June – AFL match between St Kilda and Collingwood, Waverley Park, 1.45pm

Australian vice-captain Shane Warne, with the World Cup in hand, will lead other Emirates Australian World Cup Champions around Waverley Park for a lap of honour before the St Kilda v Collingwood match.

Sydney – Saturday night 26 June – ARU Centenary Test between Australia and England, Homebush, 8.45pm

The Cup will then travel to Sydney, where Australian captain Steve Waugh and other Emirates Australian World Cup Champions will show it to over 80,000 Sydneysiders during half-time of the Australian Rugby Union Centenary Test between Australia and England.

Monday 28 June – ticker-tape parade along George Street, 12 noon

A cavalcade will transport the triumphant team down George Street from noon. The ACB is hoping over 100,000 Sydneysiders line George Street to see their heroes. Premier Bob Carr and Lord Mayor Frank Sartor will introduce the team to the crowd. The Lord Mayor will then present the champions with the Keys to the City prior to an official reception in the Town Hall.

Canberra – Monday night 28 June – Prime Ministerial Reception, Members Hall, Parliament House, 6.15pm

The World Cup Champions will then travel to Parliament House in Canberra for a Prime Ministerial Reception. [Link]

Now, somebody tell me how humble this sort of a celebration is. It is true that they didn’t get land or luxury cars, but they did celebrate. And the lack of knowledge that Symonds has about this celebration makes me think that he was born after 1999. If you are on the top for a long time then you might feel that it is your own. So, comes a moment once in a while which brings you down from that position and you start to fight harder to stay there. This is exactly what is happening to Australia at this moment and they have raised their game to the next level to get the better of India in the current ODI series. The time when the chasing pack start to get much closer will be the time when the Aussies feel the pressure. That can happen in tests over the next few years, if England and India start winning more consistently. If India can pull off a series win or draw in Australia this time around, then I am sure that the Aussies will go mad.

Also, read this

PLAYING over here is so hostile. This is my fifth time here and the key is you can’t let the language barrier and the conditions get on top of you. The day-to-day stuff can wear you down and cricket can suddenly become a chore. [Link]

Language barrier????? What is he talking about? Remember you have come to a place which has a different culture and for a change appreciate it. Australians have generally whined far lesser than the Englishmen, but to be saying something like this is crazy. You don’t expect to be welcomed with a silver place when you step on the shores here. You have come to play competitive cricket and what you should expect is a proper atmosphere to play cricket while you adjust to the other things as they have been happening here for decades.
